JOB DESCRIPTION – HATCHERY HARDWARE SUPERVISOR

JOB OVERVIEW
The Hatchery Hardware Supervisor (Nets & Ponds) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating pond preparation and net/hapa operations. The role ensures that ponds, nets, and related infrastructure are maintained in optimal, safe, and biosecure conditions to support hatchery production. The position also manages teams, resources, and schedules to maximize operational efficiency and reliability.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervision and Oversight
- Lead and supervise daily operations of dredging, pond preparation, hapa handling, and net repair teams.
- Conduct routine inspections of ponds, nets, and hapas to ensure they meet operational and quality standards.
- Develop work plans, allocate manpower, and monitor performance to ensure timely completion of activities.
- Health, Safety, and Biosecurity
- Enforce adherence to safety, health, and biosecurity protocols in all pond and net-related operations.
- Supervise cleaning, disinfection, and repair activities to ensure compliance with hatchery standards.
- Identify hazards or risks and implement preventive and corrective measures promptly.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate logs and records of pond preparation, hapa deployment, and net maintenance activities.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports and incident summaries to the Team Lead.
- Recommend operational improvements to minimize equipment damage and reduce downtime.
- Training and Development
- Train and mentor team members on net handling, pond preparation, and biosecurity practices.
- Build team capacity through continuous on-the-job coaching and performance feedback.
- Other Responsibilities
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Aquaculture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in aquaculture pond and net operations.
- Proven supervisory and organizational abilities.
- Strong knowledge of pond preparation, net/hapa management, and biosecurity procedures.
- Ability to plan work efficiently and enforce safety and quality standards.
