Job Description For Feeders R&D Cages

Job Overview
The R&D Cage Feeder is responsible for feeding fish according to approved trial protocols, monitoring fish performance, collecting routine production data, and maintaining biosecurity and housekeeping standards at R&D cages. The role supports the successful execution of research trials through accurate feeding, observation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Feeding Operations
- Feed fish according to approved feeding schedules and trial protocols.
- Ensure the correct feed type, quantity, and feeding method are used for each cage.
- Monitor feeding response and take action to minimize feed loss and wastage.
- Accurately record feed usage and report any feeding issues.
Fish Monitoring
- Observe and report fish behavior, feeding activity, health, and welfare during daily operations.
- Collect, count, and record mortalities according to established procedures.
- Assist with fish sampling and other trial activities as required.
Data Collection & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of feed consumption, mortalities, observations, and trial activities.
- Submit daily records and reports to the R&D Cages Supervisor.
- Ensure all data is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Biosecurity & Housekeeping
- Follow all biosecurity procedures for personnel, equipment, and fish movements.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and disinfected as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping of cages, feeding platforms, and work areas.
- Report biosecurity risks.
Health & Safety
- Follow all health and safety procedures and use required PPE.
- Operate equipment safely and report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
- Support a safe working environment for all team members.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate or Diploma in Fisheries & Aquaculture, Animal Production, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Experience in fish farming or feeding operations.
